With waterjet cutting technology, water is directed through nozzles at extremely high pressure through nozzles (known as cutting heads) onto a substrate (e.g. an elastomer). In this process, the jet of water acts as a cutting tool. By directing the waterjet along defined contours, any desired two-dimensional shapes can be cut out.

Compared to production processes such as punching, waterjet cutting is a technology than can offer special advantages. Since no tools are required for this production process, prototypes, pre-production and short runs as well as huge production runs involving millions of parts can all be manufactured quickly and economically. Geometric modifications or adjustments to shape are easy to implement at the development stage.
The precision that can be achieved by SCHLÖSSER through the use of waterjet technology also means that the production process generates only small amounts of scrap offcuts (because the cutting grid is smaller, …) a real benefit in terms of sustainability and cost-effectiveness! Especially when working with very expensive materials, this advantage is an important factor.
